solipsistic NATION No. 58: Oscillation
October 5, 2007
When I began solipsistic NATION I knew that I wanted to include interviews in the show but I didn’t want that to be the focus of the podcast. solipsistic NATION is all about the music, after all. But as the year went by I noticed that solipsistic NATION has had more and more interviews and they’ve been getting longer and longer. I don’t mind that so much as long as the interviews don’t dominate the show and I keep a balance between the music and the interviews. That said, today’s show is chock full of interviews.
We’ll talk with Ronnie Darko about his Scion CD Sampler v. 18: Ninja Tune Mix. D Kay tells us all about his debut release, Individual Soul, a drum and bass album he recorded using real drums and real bass, as well as horns on keyboards. We’ll also talk with Brian about the Oscillation 2007 Electronic Music Festival that takes place in New Mexico this weekend.
If you happen to be in the south west this weekend then get your ass to the Oscillation 2007 Electronic Music Festival. The festival features 16 acts from all different genres of electronic music. They include Cyrkos, Nightmare Noise Machine, Erogenous, The Booty Green, Potential Ghost, Taiji Pole, Diverje, Vertigo Venus, Alan George Ledergerber, Autopoesis, Audio Buddha, Raine Vivian, Dirty Birdies, brian botkiller, Nanocrack and zRAM.
This week solipsistic NATION I’m also giving away a few copies of Darko’s Scion CD Sampler v. 18: Ninja Tune Mix and Brian’s compilation CD of the bands who will appear at Oscillation 2007 Electronic Music Festival. Email me at solipsisticnation@gmail.com or leave a voice mail at 1-619-377-0538 and tell me which CD you’d like and they’re yours to rock out to! Well, until I run out of CDs, that is.

As an avid fan of the Ninjas and related staff, I would love to get a
copy of the Darko CD.
I’m looking forward for that Ninja Tune episode.
Peace,
Guy
hey, just wanted to say thanks. Â your podcast rocks and i’ve recommended it to a ton of my friends, thanks for putting that sweet music out there, i appreciate it! Â the interviews giving voice to the producers/artists/etc. behind the music are also cool…
Heya dude, I totally loved the past few shows you’ve done, especially with Cheb i Sabbah. I’m writing in for your cd giveaway, to get the Ninja Tunes mix, if you have any left. Thanks!
Shivam
Guy,
Thanks for the post!
I’m a big fan of Ninja Tune, too, so I’m really looking forward to working on that show. The only problem is that Ninja Tune has such a great catalog that it’ll be a challenge only picking an hour’s worth of songs :-(
I’m also hoping to interview Amon Tobin and putting together a show focusing on his music.
Have a great weekend!
ciao,
Bazooka Joe
Patrick,
Thanks! I really appreciate the message.
I’ll keep on putting out shows featuring great music as long as you keep listening :-)
Have a great weekend!
ciao,
Bazooka Joe
Shivam,
Thanks for the email and thanks for the kind words.
You’re a winner! I’ll send out the Scion CD Sampler v. 18: Ninja Tune Mix CD in a week or two.
Thanks for listening!
ciao,
Bazooka Joe
Wow, this week’s show was fantastic! I only wish I lived in New Mexico so I could go to the electronic music festival.
Can’t wait to hear next week’s synthpop show.
Gretchen,
I just mixed and encoded next week’s synthpop show to MP3. If you like music by artists like Gary Numan and Thomas Dobly then your gonna love the next edition of solipsistic NATION!
ciao,
Bazooka Joe
